DMITRY BULATOV Dmitry Bulatov (1968, Kaliningrad, Russia). Artist, researcher, art theorist. His research activities focus on different aspects of interdisciplinary art media (visual, lingua-acoustic, sci-art, biological, etc.). Author of more than 30 articles on contemporary art published in Russia and abroad, also of such books and anthologies as Ex-poetry. Selected articles (Malbork, 1996), Point of View (Olsztyn, 1998), Homo Sonorus (Kaliningrad, 2001; republished: Mexico, 2004), BioMediale (Kaliningrad, 2004). His artworks were shown at more than 100 exhibitions, among them the International Art Fair "Eurasian Zone" (Moscow, 1999), "Bunker Poetico" (49 Venice Biennial, Venice, 2001), "Davaj! Russian Art Now" (Berlin-Vienna, 2002), "Technopoetry" (Florence-Milan, 2003), Berlin Festival (Berlin-Kassel, 2004) and others. Participated in such fest-programs as the International Multimedia Art Festival (Odzaci, 1998), H2O-Festival (Oslo, 1999), First Aix Art Contemporary Festival (Aix, 1999), "Pro&Contra" (Moscow, 2000), Polypoetry International (Maastricht, 2001), XXIII International Film Festival (Moscow, 2001), "Contemporary Art in the Traditional Museum" (St. Petersburg, 2002), Ars Electronica Festival (Linz, 2002) "New Tendencies in Art" (Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 2003), Quinta Bienal Internacional (Mexico, 2004), and others. Joined international conferences on the issues of contemporary art, delivered courses of lectures at various universities in Russia, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, and Hong Kong. Laureate of the professional reward Recognition (1998), Little Booker prize diploma-winner for literature (short-list, 2000), scholarship holder of the Russian Professional Literary Men Union (2001). Organizer and curator of more than 20 international art projects. Since 1998 has been curator at the Kaliningrad Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Art (Russia). |
