DOUBLE/PERSONIFICATION

The place occupied by the individual on the Internet is measured by the originality of his/her personal pages, his/her exchanges with others, his/her desire to exist within this vast and dense universe, to be included, and to create a presence within it. The projected image results in a perception and an idealization of oneself motivated by the new means placed at one's disposition as well as by the future gaze of the other. Freed from the boundaries of the body and a familiar environment, the individual can experiment an extension of him/herself, giving cause to a new elaboration of him/herself born from a fusion with technology. Numerous Web works investigate this phenomenon of the double identity and the personification of the self on the Internet where communication may take place.
