WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR ![]() In this issue of our electronic magazine we have preserved the same structure as in the previous issue. However, we have improved the content of some columns. For example, we have added to the calendar, and its Canadian section in particular, information which we consider essential. We have also created links to institutions listed on the Internet in order to facilitate the reader's access to additional information. Since we pay special attention to artworks on the Web, we have decided to make the commentary on them more elaborate. We intend to continue in this direction and to go further in our task to provide current information on contemporary art and its presence on the Internet. For this month's column, The News of the Month, Rossitza Daskalova chose the 5th Istanbul Biennial. Her article contextualizes this event, for which there is a growing interest, by comparing it to its previous edition and to other events of this kind. In the aim of offering information which is not easily accessible, she has also included information which does not appear on the Biennial's site, namely, the list of the participating artists along with their country of origin. In the next few months, we will conduct interviews with persons from the contemporary art scene. In addition, we will select and comment on a Web site of particular interest from a contemporary art perspective. There are plenty of ideas! We are looking forward to receiving your comments and suggestions! In conclusion, I wish to thank the Canadian Heritage program Young Canada Works, administered by the Candian Museum Association, which made the publishing of The CIAC's Electronic Art Magazine possible. The Canadian Heritage program and Museum Assistance Program have also participated in the funding of this activity by offering to the CIAC's visitors the oppurtunity to use the computers for consultaion and for access to the Internet and the new media.
