Interviews

Conversation with … Jean Dubois (CIAC-Montréal, BNL MTL 2011)

Interview with artist Jean Dubois during the BNL MTL 2011 in which he participated.

This conversation was made about the interactive video installation “BrainStorm” presented on the occasion of BNL MTL 2011.

“What connects a demolition derby, wallpaper, an old-fashioned video game, drafts and post-structuralism? Nothing, except perhaps, the BrainStorm video installation where we can see born and drift to crumble certain neologisms of the philosopher Jacques Derrida. The words move on the walls to form a text where the logic of syntax is replaced by a random programming based on wandering and collision. Moreover invited to excite, by the force of their breath, the convoluted discourse of this author so that his vocabulary can accidentally produce as much a playful dialectic as a dynamic occupation of space. “
