Montreal School of Fine Arts

Of the 15 artists in the Automatists group, 6 received academic training at the Montreal School of Fine Art . The first “future Automatist” to attend the School was Paul-Émile Borduas then the second “future Automatist” was Fernand Leduc. An important period the group has been the 6 school years between 1938 and 1944.
