Fonds Paul-Émile Borduas

The Automatist movement in visual art in Quebec (Canada) would not have had the significance it did without the contribution of Paul-Émile Borduas. To commemorate the work and thought of this master, we have created THE PAUL-ÉMILE BORDUAS COLLECTION on the CIAC website.

It will serve as a platform for publishing new texts on the artist and his works, as well as a hub for essential resources on Borduas (websites, publications, archives, etc.). In short, it is a central resource for information on Paul-Émile Borduas.

1985 marked the first public event of the Centre international d’art contemporain de Montréal, which was founded in October 1983.

AN AMBITIOUS PROJECT

Return the expo 67 art museum to its original purpose as the Art Pavilion at Cité-du-Havre and make it a space dedicated to Les Automatistes.

Reinvesting this landmark building with world-class exhibition programming will place our artists in the history of world art, and stand as a marker of national pride.

Pascal Bérubé and Stéphan La Roche

We would like to congratulate Pascal Bérubé, the new Minister of Culture, Communications, and the French Language for the Government of Quebec, and Stéphan La Roche, who has been newly appointed Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Culture, Communications, and the French Language. He will take office on November 9. We have great respect for these individuals and offer them our full cooperation.

Stéphan La Roche’s departure leaves the position of Executive Director and Artistic Director vacant.
