MICHAEL SNOW EST DÉCÉDÉ
LE 5 JANVIER 2023 à l’âge de 94 ans.

Nous voulons rendre un hommage sincère et très vif à Michael Snow pour l’apport incommensurable qu’il a apporté aux arts visuels, au cinéma et à la musique au Canada. Sa présence a été un apport positif et stimulant à la création et à l’amitié entre les créateurs. Curieux et optimiste, il a enchaîné les découvertes, les recherches de nouveaux langages, les œuvres matérielles et immatérielles. Il s’est bien joué de la durée, inscrivant sa présence et son œuvre dans le temps infini. Michael Snow aura été une inspiration pour nous tous et nous lui en sommes très reconnaissants.

Nos sincères condoléances sont adressées à Peggy Gale qui aura été à ses côtés au cours de plusieurs années avec enthousiasme et partenariat. Michael Snow était le fils de Gerald Bradley Snow de Toronto et d’Antoinette Lévesque de Chicoutimi. Le couple s’est rencontré à Chicoutimi. Michael est né le 10 décembre 1928 à Toronto. Au Centre international d’art contemporain de Montréal (CIAC MTL), Michael Snow a participé aux Cent jours d’art contemporain de Montréal 1985, exposition Aurora Borealis et à La Biennale de Montréal 2000.

L’œuvre présentée à la BNL MTL 2000 fait maintenant partie de la collection permanente du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal.

MICHAEL SNOW DIED ON JANUARY 5^th 
at the age of 94.

We want to pay a heartfelt tribute to Michael Snow for his exceptional contribution to Canada’s visual arts, films and music. His positive presence was stimulating to the creation and to the friendship of many creators. Curious and optimistic, he multiplied discoveries and research into new languages, material and immaterial works. He developed the notion of duration, inscribing his presence and his works in time infinite. Michael Snow has been an inspiration to us, and we are very grateful to him.

Our sincere condolences go to his partner Peggy Gale who has been at his side for many years with enthusiasm and as a collaborator. Michael Snow was the son of Gerald Bradley Snow from Toronto and Antoinette Lévesque from Chicoutimi. The couple met in Chicoutimi. Michael was born on December 10, 1928, in Toronto.
